Employers are looking for people who can demonstrate specific, job-ready skills, while students need workforce pathways that are flexible, affordable, and connected to real career opportunities. Microcredentials can help community colleges meet both needs, but only when they are thoughtfully designed with industry and connected to certificates and degrees.

The session will share how one community college is developing a practical microcredential playbook for creating, implementing, and evaluating high-value workforce credentials. The framework is being piloted through a regional aerospace and defense workforce accelerator developed in partnership with employers and state economic development leaders.

Participants will learn how the college is using employer input to identify essential skills, build short-term training that responds to workforce needs, and create stackable pathways that allow students to continue toward certificates and degrees. The session will also address important questions about quality, sustainability, and how to determine whether a microcredential is truly valuable to students and employers.

Attendees will leave with practical strategies and a framework they can adapt to develop strong workforce pathways at their own institutions.
