About me
Dr. Brandon Hensley is the Dean of Career and Technical Education at McDowell Technical Community College and a graduate of Old Dominion University, where he received his Ph.D. in Workforce and Organizational Development. With over two decades of experience spanning engineering, faculty leadership, and academic administration, his work centers on recruiting, retaining, and supporting postsecondary CTE faculty. A former machinist and engineer, Brandon brings real-world industry knowledge to educational research and policy. His dissertation, Pillars of Purpose, explores the factors influencing faculty retention in community college CTE programs. He is a 2024 ACTE NextLevel Postsecondary Leadership Fellow and has presented nationally on CTE faculty development, Universal Design for Learning, and work-based learning innovations. Through his research and leadership, he aims to improve faculty onboarding, strengthen institutional support, and sustain high-quality technical programs aligned with workforce needs.
