Felita Murphy Associate Director for CTEIllinois Community College BoardSpringfield, ILRegion IIICo Hort 8 Fellowship/ACTE Fellow Call For Proposal Submission Final SubmissionMy name is Felita Murphy, a Cohort 8 Fellow with the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE). In my Call for Proposal (CFP), I aim to provide a clear and practical overview of micro-credential implementation within Short-Term Pell, with a focus on its impact on Career and Technical Education (CTE) programming and the future workforce. This session will explore the phases of implementing short-term, stackable credentials and examine how Short-Term Pell funding can support students by covering key educational expenses. The primary goal is to identify streamlined, results-driven approaches that enable colleges to more quickly develop and approve CTE programs aligned with evolving labor market demands.Ultimately, this work highlights how effective implementation of Short-Term Pell and micro-credentialing can strengthen the nation’s workforce and better serve community needs. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of this complex process and actionable guidance for aligning programs with industry demands.
