ACTE Postsecondary CTE Summit 2026
Friday September 18, 2026 9:45am - 10:45am EDT
This presentation introduces the S(TAC)K framework—a practical approach to AI-enabled individualized instruction. I will explore why traditional "average student" design fails in most educational contexts where instructors bring industry expertise but limited pedagogical training, and students arrive with vastly different backgrounds and needs. The framework solves education's oldest scalability problem: individualized instruction works best, but one instructor can't customize support for multiple students across multiple domains simultaneously. S(TAC)K reframes TPACK into student-centered learning domains—Technology, Action, and Content—with Scaffolding as the adaptive infrastructure making individualization achievable at scale. Through a concrete first-year composition example (Project 0), I'll demonstrate how AI-powered scaffolding enables students across nursing, welding, business, and diesel technology to develop skills calibrated to their actual starting points, with instructors serving as architects rather than sole feedback sources.
